Information About Our Classes

Acorns

At Acorns, we provide a child-centred environment with a variety of resources. Our ethos is that children learn through play, and this is supported with an attractive enclosed outside area.

Our children have access to a rich, challenging and appropriate learning environment, with resources to complement the six area of learning.

Our children go to school with a good foundation of knowledge to continue their learning.

Our Nursery leader is: Mrs Linda Mark

Class 1

Class One is a happy place where we learn lots and work hard. Learning through play is important, especially to the younger members of our class. Some of our favourite activities are playing in the sand, building Lego cars and being doctors and patients in the role play area.

We have recently had an interactive whiteboard installed and we like to press the buttons and use the pens to write.

We read every day and change our books when we finish them so that a new one goes in our book bag to take home. During afternoon break we can often be found riding the bikes and trikes, playing on the tractor or practising our ball skills on the field or playground.

Our teachers are Mr Weynberg and Mrs Tregellas.

Our teaching assistants are Mrs Enever, Mrs Hoskin and Mr Stephen.

Class 2

Class 2 is a fun and happy place to be. We have 4 year groups in our class, starting from year 3 and going up to year 6. We all get on really well in our class.

This year we have completed a range of different and exciting activities. This has included a geography trip to Gillhill woods, an RE trip to Truro, a History trip to learn about the Victorians in Truro museum, numerous design technology projects (including making an outfit for 'Stig of the Dump', money boxes and healthy sandwiches!)

We have carried out some ink printing in art, and have learnt about Britain in the 1930's and Cornish History and lots more interesting stuff!

We enjoy any lessons involving our new interactive SmartBoard in our class. It is fun to use. We have to work really hard in class 2, but we enjoy doing well and trying our best.

We have a reward system called 'Star of the Week' in our class. If one of us is especially good they might become the 'Star of the Week'. The Star's picture gets put onto a star in our classroom and they can choose a reward to do for 10 minutes each day. Our favourite activity for this is playing 'Word Shark' on the computer.

Our Class Teacher is Miss. Healy.

Our Teaching Assistants are Mrs. Enever and Mr. Stephen.
